Trippzy Launches in New York City
Media members arrived at Hotel Pennsylvania curious about an event aimed to determine “New York’s Smartest Traveler”. Trippzy, the new mobile game, debuted its live tournament feature on May 30 in New York City and the winner was the game itself, based on reactions from attendees. Trippzy held the New York City launch of its travel-trivia mobile game on the top floor of the historic Hotel Pennsylvania. (Phil Yu photos for Trippzy) Launched on the Apple Store and Google Play Store in February, Trippzy has garnered praise from media who cited its advantages in marketing tourism destinations and achieving a rarity in the mobile-game world: Rewarding players with real, easily attainable rewards. Discover Trippzy’s Toronto Launch Having partnered with six Caribbean destinations (Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Curacao, and Nevis), Trippzy is changing how consumers decide on their next vacation choice. Rewards available for the public include a VIP experience to Curacao that includes round-trip airfare for two, a five-night luxury hotel stay, and $500 USD in spending dollars, among other perks. That prize will be awarded in a live tournament this summer. Another major prize — a three-night stay at ultra-luxurious Scrub Island Resort on a private island in the British Virgin Islands — will also be awarded in a future live tournament. The game can be downloaded for free and most players earn enough points after one session to claim a travel reward. Trippzy plans to launch additional destinations outside of the Caribbean soon. Media members in New York played for a range of prizes gathered specifically for them to take home that night. These gifts ranged from the following: three exclusive two-bottle packages of British Columbia wines provided by the Oliver-Osoyoos Winery Association; a free hotel night in a newly renovated Penn Plaza Collection Room at the Hotel Pennsylvania, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2019; CityPass multi-day passes to explore New York City; and two gift baskets provided by British Virgin Islands Tourism.
