Jaisalmer Military Station yet to get approval
The Army's plan to develop Jaisalmer Military Station into a smart facility, has not yet received green signal from the Defence Ministry. It may be recalled here that in January last year the Indian Army had drawn a detailed plan to develop the Jaisalmer Military Station in Rajasthan as a smart facility patterned on the Centre's Smart Cities. Unconfirmed reports say that lack of adequate funds is proving to be an obstacle in taking it forward. A detailed plan has been formulated in consonance with eight key areas identified by the central government for development of Smart Cities. Some of the unique facilities provided in these dwelling units would be rainwater harvesting, centralised garbage disposal system, solar water heater, solar security lights, underground electric cabling, LED lighting system, provision of LPG through pipelines, prepaid electricity and water meters, waste disposal chutes, passenger and service lift etc. Along with this, other facilities as per the plan,
