Exercises with Paper, Light & Shadows as Subject | Ryan Seslow ART & DESIGN
Im excited to share this building new series of paper sculptures here on my website today. For the most part, they are all ephemeral. Thats right, they have a short life span. Paper is very temperature sensitive, so I have learned. Discovery = awareness. I love this as a formula for growth. The works below are studies that may not last very long. The photos that I have taken of the sculptures, will. Perhaps this process has more value to it than I thought? I say this freely with the intention of not focusing on a specific outcome just yet. I want to see how far I can push this. These are experiments, not only with paper and form, composition, shape and light. But with the "subject" of creating relief works of art. I like the idea of how the use of a wall creates an opportunity to explore applications of light with works that use a synthesis of 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional forms. Lets see where it goes.
