Kurt Russell Saddles Up For BONE TOMAHAWK - Movies In Focus
Kurt Russell has been keeping a relatively low profile in recent years (starring in just one film since 2007’s Grindhouse effort Death Proof). However, the John Carpenter favourite has now signed on to the western/horror, Bone Tomahawk – and it sounds pretty exciting. Peter Sarsgaard, Richard Jenkins and Jennifer Carpenter will also star in the film which will be written and directed by S. Craig Zahler. According to Variety: “The brutally violent, character-driven “Bone Tomahawk” follows a sheriff (Russell), a gunslinger, a befuddled oldster (Jenkins) and a cowboy (Sarsgaard) as they attempt to rescue a group of captives (including Carpenter) from a band of cannibalistic troglodytes.” Bone Tomahawk will be produced by Caliber Media, and the US distribution rights are currently up for grabs, although the great concept and good cast should mean that they won’t be available for long. Russell really knocked it out of the western park with Tombstone in 1993, and I’m quite excited that he’s getting back in the saddle for this.
