It is Finished! - Love letters from God
When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. John 19:30 (NIV) Tetelestai (τετέλεσται), is a Greek word that means “Finished.” It is also known as a word that was stamped on tax receipts indicating, “paid in full.” When Jesus said, “It is finished,” He was saying to His Father, “their debt is paid in full!” When Jesus died, the veil in the temple was torn in two (Matthew 27:51). The veil was there to separate sinful men from entering the holy of holies. Man was separated from the presence of God because of their sin. Only the High Priest could enter the holy of holies once a year on the day of atonement to bring a sacrifice for the sin of the people. Jesus took on the role of High Priest and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice, ONCE and for ALL. We often forget that now have unlimited VIP access to the throne room/the presence of God! Jesus accomplished what the law alone could not (Romans 8:3). He reunited us with our Heavenly Father. In John 20:17, Jesus said, “I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.” Jesus was saying, He is also YOUR God and YOUR Father. We have now been given that same ministry of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18). Jesus wants us to share the same hope we have with others so they may come to know their heavenly Father also. There is nothing you can do that will separate you from the love of God (Romans 8:39). The world says, “meet my expectation, and then I will show you love.” Jesus loved us while we were yet sinners (Romans 5:8). Our bodies are now the temple of the Lord and He wants to live in us and through us (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). He loves us so much, but fear stunts us from moving forward with God. Perfect love casts out fear; so fear is not from God (1 John 4:18). There is a misconception that only the Pastor hears from God. We are not under the law anymore; God has poured His spirit out on ALL people (Acts 2:17; Romans 5:5). He wants an intimate relationship with each one of us. Sometimes we try to pick back up old debts that Jesus already took care of. The battle is the Lords, and the war has already been won! He sees the beginning and the end (Revelation 22:13) and has overcome it. Jesus is saying to you, IT IS FINISHED!!!
