Moose hide medicine pouch, with Caribou hair tufted flower and beadwork - Indig Inc.
Moose hide medicine pouch, with Caribou hair tufted flower and beadwork This beautiful piece is finally complete! This sturdy, traditionally stitched and constructed moose hide medicine pouch, features a 3D tufted flower, sculpted from Caribou hair. The wide, adjustable drawstring is a hand cut lace, of the same hide as the pouch. Caribou and Moose Hair tuftings are a traditional native art form. Tufting produces three-dimensional images by stitching and trimming bundles of selected moose or caribou hair onto tanned hide or birchbark. Tufting requires great patience and a sure, steady hand. Moosehair is the preferred material for tufting because of its stiff texture but hairs from the beard of caribou are also commonly seen. Many tufters find working with caribou hair more trying as the hair is much thinner, harder to dye and shorter in length. For these reasons, caribou hair tuftings are harder to find in today’s market. This piece is truly unique, as all designs are drawn freehand and each tufted piece will never be identical. Due to the nature of this special pouch, I cannot accept refunds or exchanges, please purchase with care and feel free to message me, for further details or pictures. All materials used are of the highest quality, to ensure durability. Each piece is made with love and care.
