Why did God Create People He Foreknew Would Go to hell? -
“Why did God create people he foreknew would go to hell?” “He didn’t. He created people with the free will to choose for themselves their eternal fate.” “But no one in their right mind would choose hell!” “I agree with you, but those who reject God would say that you and I are not in our right mind! They aren’t convinced there is a hell and believe the choice between heaven and hell is a false alternative.” “Okay then, since God is omniscient he knows in advance who will choose to spend eternity separated from Him. Why even create those people?” “You mean abort them?” “No no, not like that. Stop their creation before conception!” “Interfere with their free will by taking it away from them before it can be exercised?” “Right!” “But eliminating their ability to choose is the elimination of their free will which would means they never had it to start with!” “It’s for their own good!” “But if God makes the choice for them there is no free will! We either have free will or we don’t! There is no middle ground or third alternative.” “They don’t know what they’re doing! They CAN’T know what they’re doing! Why, the severity and finality of eternal separation from God is unthinkable!” “Yes it is.” “What if it’s not their fault? Maybe they were created that way!” “Look, to say people spend eternity separated from God because they were created that way is an excuse used by those who wish to deflect the responsibility that comes with the awesome gift of free will.” “I just want to help them.” “Looking for a way out on their behalf is not the way. We help them by first thinking clearly ourselves and then we can help them to do the same. Look at the dilemma logically: if God only made people that were guaranteed to love him they would be robots, not people! Robots don’t have a choice and aren’t capable of love! God loves us too much to force us to love him, because forced love is not love at all!” “But my heart cries out for the lost!” “As does the heart of God. Which is why He chose to sacrifice His Son for them, and for you and I. So that we can now freely choose to love Him, or reject Him. But that is our choice to make, not God’s! He made His choice to love us, now it’s our turn to choose.” For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
