Dead-Beat-Dad or Savior? -
For most of my life the existence of evil was “proof” that the creator of space, time and matter didn’t care about us. He either had no heart, or it was cold and reptilian. He was the ultimate “Dead-Beat Dad” abandoning us to fend for ourselves in a hostile universe. Since God wouldn’t eliminate evil, it was up to me to stave off the evil of the world as best I could, for myself and my family. But after 46 years of going it alone I was driven to my knees in defeat. That was when I saw the hand of Jesus reaching out to me. Now I knew what all the Christians meant by their statement “Jesus is my Savior”. I understood for the first time that He was always there, had never left and wanted to share His defeat of evil and death with me. Why? Because He loves me. That was reason enough. I also understood for the first time that the evil “out there” I expected God to eradicate was a reflection of that within my own heart. And now that I’m an Adopted Son of The Living God ushered into His presence by the work of Jesus Christ, I want others to understand the logos, the logic of His plan. I want to love Him with all my heart, with all my soul and with all my mind. And help others do the same. Why? Gratitude. If He died for me, why can’t I live for Him? Like This Blog?
