Today in chemistry history: Glenn Seaborg and transuranium element discovery
Today (19th April) marks the birthday of Glenn Seaborg. At the University of California, Berkeley, Seaborg and his colleagues discovered ten of the transuranium elements (elements after uranium in the Periodic Table). Seaborg was lead discover for plutonium, americium, curium, and berkelium; he was co-discoverer of californium, einsteinium, fermium, mendelevium, nobelium and seaborgium. Having seaborgium named
