Over six million people have been displaced from their homes since the start of the over 60-year long armed conflict in Colombia . Some 220,000 people died during the conflict and paramilitary groups were responsible for the overwhelming majority of deaths — committing 1,166 massacres in total . One of these massacres took place in Chengue in the region of Montes de Maria.
