SHADOW GAMES: seven eyeshadow palettes you need to try now
Want the perfect smoky eye? How about a soft sheen for daytime? Feeling like a bit of glitter? No problem. However, there’s no need to spend oodles of money on a multitude of single shades. These days, to get options all in one place the best thing is to invest in a shadow palette. From the basic to the lavish a palette is the best way to collect a myriad of shadow shades on one pan; it’s not only practical idea but in most instances a very economical one as well. From a small four pan to an artist’s collection of eight or more there is a palette that brings together every hue you need in a single place allowing you to be as simple or “over the top” creative as you wish. If you’re a fan of beauty expert and makeup artist Jaclyn Hill then you want her new collection of shadows from the Morphe X Jaclyn Hill The Vault series; a four-palette collection that can be purchased all together or singularly. I’m loving the one called Ring the Alarm $15 an assortment of ten gorgeous made-to-love shades like matte deep ochre, gleaming hibiscus pink, matte toasted almond, a shimmering and matte plum and many others housed in a signature pan. If you love Jaclyn then you’re going to want to get your hands on at least one of these palettes featuring shadows which are super creamy, easily blendable and highly pigmented. As they’re already sold out on the Morphe site Ulta is where you’ll look to get lucky. And I can’t say enough about the MOTHERSHIP V: Bronze Seduction Palette $125 from makeup maven Pat McGrath; this one-stop wonder contains ten do-it-all shadows in a combination of rose golds, crimson, a toasted mauve and a rich amethyst that make the most of a striking smokey eye or soft sheen. It lands on the website on 9/7. Got a thing for bronze and copper hues? Then you need the MTHRSHP Sublime Bronze Ambition Palette $55. “Mother” pours her heart into every piece from her vast collection and this palette of six is smoldering with gleaming golds and deepened charcoals to surely give you that seductive look to up your eyeshadow game. Wake up your eyes with a splendid array from ColourPop, their Yes Please! Palette $16 sings a sunny surprise in bright marigold, pale yellow, burnt orange, metallic rust, shimmering rose, and others. I’m usually into the deeper tones but this particular palette is fresh and lively that I can see myself using the combination to make some serious day-to-nighttime eye looks. All of these are perfect for stocking in your vanity or makeup kit. Looking for something compact? Then the Shiseido Essentialist Eye Palette is perfect for you. At $34 it houses four complimentary shades to give you the convenience of use but not an overbearing of colors that you know you don’t need. Because it’s so small you can tote it with you in your makeup bag for easy touch-ups and they come in six color combinations from nudes to a stark blue and voided black and several finishes like matte and shimmer. And for night-time drama, you’ll be winning with this staple from Charlotte Tilbury, her Luxury Palette in Rock Chick $53 is the ultimate answer for a “risk-it-all” dramatic eye. Smoke out in the standard of slate gray, deep shimmery taupe and a glittery silver to finish the look. And finally, from Giorgio Armani Beauty the Eyes to Kill Quad $60 in Boudoir is a cross-sampling of taupes and plums just right for incoming fall. The essence of Armani Beauty is understated elegance and this shadow palette brings that to life with these muted but versatile shades perfectly tuned to compliment each other. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with a palette. There’s no doubt about it; it gives you the flexibility you need when planning your eye look. Yes, some are more of an investment but in the long run, you’ll save off of buying a dozen single shadows in colors that you have to coordinate yourself. Pre-designed palettes take all of the guesswork out of the process. Trust me, you need this girl! Wrtitten by: Linda Jamison
