Theology First
Much of what is being taught within the Church is not the truth. There's only one truth, and that is the Lord Jesus Christ Himself, who said I am the way, and the truth, and the life.... (John 14:6). Jesus is central in Scripture. Therefore, a proper interpretation of Scripture, must always have Jesus in view. Christ is our starting point. Therefore, a proper understanding of the New Testament is necessary in order to understand the Old Testament, for it's the New Testament that reveals Christ and His people. A proper hermeneutic always begins and ends with Christ and the New Testament. If we don't start there, mass confusion will be the result when trying to understand the Old Testament. From Genesis to Revelation, Christ and His Church is always in view. Therefore, that must always be kept in mind when studying God's Word. Theology is the foundation of our faith, which is why I've chosen Theology First as the name for this website. For a great explanation of why theology must be first, I invite you to read the following article by gotquestions.com: What is the Definition of Theology? While theology may be first, and while that is the primary focus of this website, that's not all you'll find here. There is also an emphasis on application. While knowledge and understanding is important, the goal is to grow in our faith and in our relationship with Christ. Therefore we must apply what we learn. I seek to do that here. I've completed a lengthy series on Israel and the Church, and over the next few weeks, I'll be adding each study to the website. I've also written commentaries on Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, and Revelation. However, I have to go through and edit each book. As I complete each one, I'll add it to the website. By God's grace, I would like to do a commentary on the whole New Testament. Grab yourself a cup of coffee and enjoy the studies.
