The Poet X dropped into my life at just the point when I needed a beautiful lyrical novel. It is written in prose, which is not the type of novel that normally draws me in. This book? This is beautiful. I really like Elizabeth Acevedo’s voice. Her poetry is simple and emotive. Best of all? It doesn’t rhyme. I have this thing about rhyming poetry. Mostly?
