Ben Horowitz is the Cofounder and Partner (along with Marc Andreessen) of the venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz which is based in Menlo Park. Prior to Andreessen Horowitz, Ben and Marc co-founded Loudcloud, a managed services provider which became Opsware, a data center automation software provider. Opsware was ultimately acquired by HP. Ben’s blogging agenda for this year is to reflect on the many experiences he’s had in his career—as computer science student, software engineer, cofounder, CEO, fund raiser, company acquirer and seller—and distill the lessons he’s learned in each of those roles. He’s using this blog to share what he’s learned, provide a sharp opinion or two, and generally contribute to the lively dialog around entrepreneurship, building and leading organizations, and venture capital.
