A to Z Blogging Challenge: M is for Marble - Rock Paper Spirit
Onto the third week of the challenge now and I’m getting to the stage where I can see the end in sight. I think today is the halfway point. So, M is for Marble and initially I was going to write about a brand called Marble (I really admire their products and would love to buy them) but the problem with that idea was that it might be too much like advertising and you’re not allowed to do anything commercial on the A to Z Blogging Challenge. Ok, I wouldn’t have been getting paid for it and wouldn’t have anything to gain from it, but it’s still slightly suspicious. So, marble is going to be about the table in my conservatory. This is a little bit different since it’s an item that is no longer on my wish list and has been ticked off. For a while now, I’ve been working on my Instagram account. I think I made a huge mistake by putting all my social media eggs in the Twitter basket because now Twitter’s a sewer and nobody cares about it. Instagram is where everyone is having fun right now and it’s where bloggers tend to make the most money. Except, I suck at Instagram and I’m not a particularly visual person. I’m more about the words. So, I had this bright idea that if I photograph everything with a marble background, it’ll be Instagram-worthy. Of course it will. So, I bought a marble table at the same time that I was updating my sofa last year. It’s just a small occasional table with chrome coloured legs and a marble effect top but that’s what I now use when I’m photographing items for Instagram or reviews. See picture below: It’s nothing special but it’s an item from my wish list that I recently ticked off and I love it. I’m currently in the process of starting up my own business as a social media consultant and brand manager and I feel like every bespoke graphic I create, either for myself or for clients has a marble background. It’s just so modern and elegant that I can’t scroll past a marble graphic without stopping to have a look. I really don’t know what’s happened to me in recent years. I used to be cool and write about things that were interesting and now here I am, at the ripe old age of 38 writing about marble occasional tables. *shakes head* Tomorrow I’m going to go back to writing about things that have not yet been ticked off the wish list and write about N for Nomination. I’m going to be hugely embarrassed writing that post, so please bear with me. But if it does get ticked off, I won’t be blushing. I’ll be shouting from the rooftops. Over on my author site today, I’m writing about M for Municipal Liaison. Also, if you want to check out my other websites (insert shameless self-promotion here) you can do so by clicking on this link and reading about my other ventures.
