Warriors Hang On in Game 5; Lose Kevin Durant to Injury - Pro Sports Fandom
With the Golden State Warriors trailing 3-1 in the NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors, Kevin Durant was cleared to play in Game 5 for Golden State after he has missed the last month with a Calf injury. Durant suffered that injury back in Game 5 against the Houston Rockets at home in the second-round in the second-half. Durant scored 11 points and was 3-for-3 from downtown, but he reinjured himself in the game and was carried off the court in the second-quarter. General Manager Bob Myers confirmed after the game Kevin Durant has an Achillies injury and he will have an MRI on Tuesday. Even despite all of that, the Warriors trailed 105-99 with less than 3:30 in regulation. Toronto called a foolish timeout and then Golden State went on a 9-2 run, including Klay Thompson’s game-winning three pointer with 57.6 seconds remaining and the Golden State Warriors won Game 5 over the Raptors 106-105. Thompson finished with 26 points and he drilled seven 3’s. Kyle Lowry made a basket on a goal-tend thanks to DeMarcus Cousins with 29.9 seconds remaining to cut the lead to 106-105.
