Hickenlooper delivers his first State of the State address
Gov. John Hickenlooper delivered his first State of the State address today at the state Capitol. “A lot of people don’t think the state can operate in a nonpartisan way for the benefit of Colorado,” Hickenlooper said during the speech. “We don’t agree.” t;/p> Hickenlooper talked about multi-year budgeting for the state; including a regulatory impact statement to business on new legislation; implementing health care exchanges; consolidating functions of state government where appropriate; Congressional redistricting; working with lawmakers to create a venture capital fund for small businesses; the importance of water to Colorado; protecting the state’s environment; and education reform.
