Melissa Marini Švigelj-Smith is a PhD student at UC Santa Cruz and an advocate for the public schools ALL our children deserve. She was featured in an ASCD documentary about project based learning, has been featured in NPR’s Mindshift blog and in an article by the Christian Science Monitor, has appeared as a guest on radio shows and podcasts, and has spoken at convenings and conferences across the nation about her experiences as an educator in Cleveland, Ohio, public high schools including the four years she spent teaching young men at the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center.
