Environmental Studies
My research in environmental studies began with my dissertation and was prompted by Scott Farrow at the University of Maryland Baltimore County. There, my dissertation focused on the National Flood Insurance Program and analyzed the socioeconomic costs and benefits of the program. I gave some talks and wrote some articles, mostly for general audiences. In a fit of interdisciplinarity, I lumped all this together as "Flood Studies," one day. But my interest in the environment and protecting our world goes well beyond flood insurance. Since I started working at the Johns Hopkins University, I have taken a few classes on environmental engineering to help improve my knowledge of the "other side of the house" on the environment. This page pulls together everything I've done on environmental policy and my occasional blogging on environmental science.
