Why I Believe There Is A God | i write 4 HIM
I remember when I was around six years old my family and I took a trip to the beach. I can not remember everything that happened that day, but I do remember being in the water, a big wave knocking me over and not being able to get back up. I fought as hard as I could to stand up but the waves kept me down. I was at the point of giving up when something inside of me said “open your hand”. When I did so, I felt a rope right beside me. I grabbed hold of the rope and began with all of my might to pull myself out of the water. It seemed like the waves were fighting against me, trying to take me under but somehow I was able to hold tightly to the rope. When I finally pulled myself out of the water and back to shore I remember collapsing to the ground. I don’t know how far down the beach I had been pushed by the waves, but I remember I was the only one in that area of the beach. When I stood up I could see other people way down on the other side of the beach. The thing that always stuck with me about this experience is that while I was laying in the sand I saw the rope beside me, however, the rope was not anchored to anything on the shore. It was just laying there beside me. What held that end of the rope, as I pulled on it from the other end? Why did it come to me to “open my hand”? My mother was not a Christian at that time and I had not yet been introduced to the Lord. I didn’t know his word. I didn’t know about his power nor about his love for me. However that day I came to know that there was a God. I may not have known anything about him, but after that experience, I knew he existed. A few years later my mother gave her life to the Lord and by her taking us to church I came to learn about God and eventually gave my life to him. I believe on that day the Devil was trying to take me out, but God had other plans for my life. God is amazing and He still reveals himself today. I would love to hear about experiences you had that let you know there is a God. Sign Up To Stay In Touch!
