My 5 Makeup Essentials for a Natural Look
When I was in my early twenties, I knew ZERO about makeup. I was terrified to wear foundation for fear of having the caked on look and I didn’t know how to properly apply lipstick without looking like a clown. I wanted my makeup to look natural, so I would just end up putting on mascara and some lip gloss. However, as I get older, I am having more fun (and patience) and I’m investing in some better quality products. I absolutely LOVE Milk Makeup and it has become a permanent staple in my routine since my wedding last June. It’s taken me a few years, but I’ve finally found my happy place. The products I wear daily are light, airy, and the best part is, I still look like myself. So here is a breakdown of the 5 products I wear every single day for a natural look: 1) Milk Sunshine Skin Tint Foundation I love this foundation! It is really easy to apply and has 30 SPF for sun protection. The dewey soft feeling is because this foundation is packed with great oils like: avocado, mandarin, grape seed, olive, and jojoba oils. I apply this by rolling it on to key points of my face: nose, cheekbones, under-eyes, forehead, chin, and above my lips. I blend it in with a spongey beauty blender, but if I don’t have it with me, it easily blends with your fingers. It’s super lightweight and popping it in your purse is easy. And the best part is, all Milk Makeup products are vegan, cruelty-free and paraben-free. It’s $42, comes in 8 different shades, and will last you a LONG time. Check it out here. 2) Milk Lip + Cheek After my foundation has been applied, I apply my blush. I have tried using powder blushes in the past, but I was finding that I was applying way too much. This product is great because a little goes a long way. I simply dab a little onto the apples of my cheeks and then I blend with a brush, blending from front, back towards my ear. Like the Skin Tint Foundation, this blush stays on all day long. It also doubles as a lip tint. It doesn’t stay on nearly as well as when it’s being used as a blush, but it’s still pretty. I love this little guy. It’s $24, comes in 5 colors, and is made with creamy mango butter. Check it out here. 3) Maybelline Brow Precise Next up, eyebrows! Maybelline Brow Precise is one of my favorite drugstore finds. I think I paid $6 for it and I have had it for nearly 8 months. It’s super easy to use. First, I brush my brows out and make sure they’re defined the way I want them. Then I very gingerly apply the brow precise. My eyebrows are naturally very blonde, so it doesn’t take much to give them a boost. You can find this bad boy on Amazon or at your local drugstore. 4) Maybelline Full ‘N Soft Mascara Yet another great drugstore find, Brow Precise’s awesome sister Full ‘N Soft Mascara. This is my second to last essential to apply. This mascara is great because it doesn’t clump or ever look like too much. I paid $9 for it and I have become a loyal fan. I buy this mascara religiously. Just like before, you can find it on Amazon or at your local drugstore. 5) Milk Lip Color Demi-Matte Lipstick Last, but certainly not least, I present the Milk Lip Color Demi-Matte Lipstick. This is easily my favorite product just because I love how it completes my look. The Demi-Matte is great, because it moisturizes and stays on all day long. I rarely, and I mean rarely, have to reapply this lipstick. I can put it on in the morning and still have it on when I get home in the evening. It gives my lips the right amount of pigment and makes them feel so soft. It’s made with shea butter, coconut oil, and grapefruit peel oil. It comes in 12 colors and you can get your favorite color of $24. Check it out here.
