This is an invitation to you to join a group of your comrades to recreate one of the great memories of College years – the run around Fort Henry. This year the run will take place on Saturday, September 14, at 1500 hours. We run the old Cadet Wing Harriers route, which circumnavigates Fort Henry. The run starts and ends at the flagpole on the parade square, and the distance is a bit under 5 km (with a BIG hill in the middle, of course). The run is now an opportunity for Cadets from all classes to join together for an enjoyable run bringing back memories of years ago. It also includes the present-day College Harriers teams – both male and female – who will join us (and kindly slow down a bit so as not to embarrass us too much). It is not a race – times will not be recorded and no prizes will be awarded – although if individuals or groups wish to challenge themselves, they are welcome to do so. All Cadets and ex-Cadets are welcome, as are members of participants’ families. As stated, the plan is to start at 1500 hours, but please be there by 1440 hours for a short briefing and a group photograph. The run schedule fits in with the other sports activities going on, and gives us enough time afterwards for a drink together before you head off for the evening events. Afterwards, the casual get-together for all participants will take place at a nearby Mess to mix and talk about the run and the college. It’s a great way for ex-cadets to chat with present-day cadets in a relaxed atmosphere. (Warning – bring money – tradition also requires that we ex-cadets do the buying). If you want to do the run, please advise me at the address below so that we can keep a handle on the numbers to expect. The more the merrier!
