25366 Anna-Michelle Shewfelt: eVeritas Through the Summer Months
With Grad and the end of the year at RMC right around the corner, I wanted to take a moment to update our readers on a few of the things you can expect from eVeritas through the summer months. We are in the process of identifying and acquiring the best software for our needs which will allow us to raise the bar on our published content while at the same time address concerns raised by you our readers (chief among these being ease of navigation around the site and through the email notifications). We intend to transition to this new software over the summer months in order to have it in place for the start of the new academic year in September. As you’ve probably noticed, we are now using a new system to send out our weekly mailing list. This system allows us to track reader interaction with the emails in ways that the previous one did not. Over the last two months we have learned a great deal about how you interact with the email notifications (and also how you don’t). And the more we learn, the more questions we have about your experience and what you’d like to see improved. To that end, expect a survey from us to be sent out in June to get your input moving forward. The ability to better track your interaction with the email notifications also means that we can (potentially) tailor the emails more to your specific interests. While the means exist to do so, whether or not it’s feasible with 8500 email addresses and our limited manpower remains to be seen. This is one of several possible options we’ll be exploring further through the summer. Finally, I will be taking courses through Queen’s University as part of my professional Editor Certification. Formal training such as this serves to raise the standing of eVeritas in the public eye. As many of you will be aware, the summer months at RMC are generally slower than the rest of the year. We plan to make full use of that downtime. While we will never compromise on the quality and relevance of our published content, you may see less of it in certain issues as we balance all of our on-going projects to bring you the best possible eVeritas in September. I thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to work to make each eVeritas just a little bit better than the last. 25366 Anna-Michelle Shewfelt
