2014 Hair Lessons | Don't Touch the Hair
For most people, the end of the year is a time for reflection. I took some time to think about what I learned about my hair this year. Here's what I came up with. Low manipulation My hair likes to be left alone. It does so much better when it is in a low manipulation or protective style. Protective styles are usually better but installation and take-down can bring some issues. No to braids and weaves As much as I love having my hair braided, my hair does not like it. This is especially an issue for the front part of my hair which is finer and cannot withstand the pressure from braiding. I had a weave in Feb/March and braids in June/July. My hair wasn't too great afterwards especially in my sensitive areas. I've taken to wearing weave After my weave, I had too much breakage. I wasn't moisturizing as often as I needed too and I faced consequences. My scalp needs to breathe I can appreciate a good weave . . . on someone else. My scalp won't give me peace if I have a weave for too long. My
