It's 2010, Yins! - COLLEEN'S TRAVEL BLOG
Have you ever heard anyone say “Yins”? It’s Pennsylvanian for “Y’all”, and where I come from, people say it all the time. It’s quite baffling. Anyhow, it’s 2010, and I’ve decided to make some resolutions. 1. Listen to something other than The Beatles. Now, I must explain this. My love of the Beatles can only be described as spiritual. Religious, even. I listen to The Beatles like people go to church or pray. I couldn’t really tell you why, I do this, but I love The Beatles like I’ve never loved any other music before. And although I have a feeling I’ll never find a band whose discography appeals to me in the way The Beatles do, I hope to find a few songs here and there that I enjoy. This is a video of Paul McCartney singing to me, by the way. 2. Be more positive. Apparently I complain…a lot. I also always complain about people who complain a lot. As a person who has no desire to be a hypocrite and tries to be honorable, I do not like to do the things that I complain about people doing. For instance, leaving dishes in the sink instead of putting them in the dishwasher. Because I always complain about this, I am under a tremendous amount of pressure to put my own dirty dishes in the dishwasher. I also complain about people who lead sedentary lifestyles, sleep in late, don’t shower, wear sweatpants every day, have ugly tennis shoes, etc. I realize I am an extremely shallow and vain person, but I chalk that up to a natural personality defect. However, I could definitely stand to be more positive. I can mentally complain myself into a total funk. It’s all too easy to do, especially when I wandering around in the tundra that is campus, face swelling up with hives because of my allergy to the cold. I think my boyfriend will break up with me if I don’t stop complaining. So…MUST BE MORE POSITIVE. I don’t want to be a Debbie Downer anymore 🙁 3. Employ good hygiene before bed. I’m not afraid to admit this: I don’t usually brush my teeth or wash my face before going to bed. It’s pretty much out of laziness and having good skin. But I am now paranoid that my gums are receding and that I’m getting wrinkles…so I need to…
