Threats to New Yorkers heighten need for expanded services to protect all immigrant New Yorkers New York, NY – The New York Immigration Coalition will join with elected officials and advocates to urge the City Council to include funding for immigrant legal services in the final budget, in light of new data released by ICE. With immigration arrests up 40% since Trump signed an executive order on immigration enforcement, it is critical that the City renew its commitment to protecting all New Yorkers. Following the press conference, the Coalition will launch its inaugural Immigration Legal Service Provider Day of Action. The Coalition will meet with council members to discuss why these numbers further underscore the need for the final budget to include funding for legal services, specifically for organizations providing complex case representation.
