Thailand to host 2018 Miss Universe pageant for the third time
Miss Universe 2018 to be held in Thailand The number one pageant in the world returns to Thailand to be held in Bangkok on December 17th Steve Harvey to Return as Host With the Philippines nearing the peaking point of it’s popularity among pageant organizations, Thailand looks to be the next “IT” country from Asia. This has now been confirmed with the announcement from the Miss Universe organization of it’s crowning event for 2018 to be held once again in Thailand. Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters is set to crown her successor in Thailand this December. This is the third time the country will host the world’s number one pageant. Steve Harvey will be returning as host. The 2018 Miss Universe competition will air in the U.S. on Sunday, December 16 (7-10 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on Fox. This will be Harvey’s fourth time hosting the pageant, following his infamous snafu in the 2015 pageant, in which he misread the card and announced Miss Colombia as the winner instead of actual winner Miss Philippines. He returned as host in 2016, telling the pageant world that he wanted to personally apologize to the Filipinos for the incident. He also hosted the 2017 pageant in Las Vegas. On Tuesday, July 31, the Miss Universe organization confirmed that Thailand will host the pageant for the third time. Miss Universe Organization president Paula Shugart and Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters were present at the press conference in Bangkok. Former Miss Universe 1965 Apasra Hongsakula and Miss Universe 2005 Natalie Glebova were also present during the announcement. Viva Vegas TV CEO Sancho Van Ryan covered the 2017 Miss Universe pageant with live reporting from Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas with the Miss Universe 2016 and Miss USA 2017 along with fashionista and vlogger Lisa Opie The pageant is scheduled on December 17, Manila time (December 16, US time). The organization posted the video announcement. Thailand hosted the pageant twice – in 1992 and 2005. The country has also produced two winners – Apasra Hongsakula in 1965 and Porntip Nakhirunkanok (Bui Simon) in 1988. The Philippines’ representative Catriona Gray will vie for the country’s 4th crown. Pia Wurtzbach was the last Filipina to bag the crown in 2015.
