Leather Plough Gauge by H BRINDLEY - Plow Gauge
A very good leather plow gauge by H BRINDLEY of Birmingham.H.BRINDLEY were saddlers and general hand tool manufacturers and it is believed that this plough was used by military saddlers and harness makers during the First World War of 1914 - 18.The rosewood handled and brass ferruled knife is marked 'H.BRINDLEY 1917' on the blade with '9' and the military Broad Arrow mark on the handle.The front of the foot is marked 'H.BRINDLEY 191?'.The graduated bar is divided into eighths up to 5 inches. This bar also has the Broad Arrow mark on the underside.Spring loaded brass roller.All parts move freely and tighten securely.A nice example.
