Who would have imagined that Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions would have figured out an intriguing (and pretty impressive) way to bring back the long dormant Invisible Man franchise for the 21st Century? The character, created by H.G. Wells, was first made into a Universal Picture by James Whale in 1933, starring Claude Rains. Forgoing the action-adventure vibe of recent remakes of Dracula and The Mummy, this new interpretation of The Invisible Man puts the focus firmly back in the realm of horror. There’s also a Sleeping With The Enemy vibe going on here. I like it, but deep down I will always wonder what would Johnny Depp have done with the role in the now aborted Dark Universe?
