Last week in Reading, students enjoyed several read-alouds last week including "Young Martin Luther King, Jr." by Mattern, and "Enemy Pie" by Derek Munson, an endearing story about how one little boy turned a best enemy into his best friend. In Nursery Rhymes, students recited, sang, or learned anew several rhymes and poems such as "Star Light, Star Bright"; "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"; "Baa, Baa Black Sheep"; and "Humpty, Dumpty". They also had a lot of fun making a "star craft" with paint, a paintbrush, and tape. In Math last week, we practiced writing 13, 14,15, 16, and 17. Students traced these numbers and then practiced writing them on the white boards. They also reviewed numbers 1 thru 10 by writing these numbers on a worksheet. In Language and Literacy, students continued working on the sight word "the". As a class, we read the story "Setting the Table" and students identified the word "the" as well as circled the sight word in their books. Then they had to read the book by
