Manly United v North Shore Mariners Preview | Manly United Football Club
MANLY United are bracing themselves for a local derby with a difference this Sunday afternoon – taking on North Shore Mariners at Cook Park in Mt Pritchard. With the pitch at Northbridge not quite ready, the Mariners will host a ‘home’ game in Sydney’s west. “It is a fairly unusual situation, but our preparation won’t change,” coach Chris Williams said. “Mariners are also backing up from a midweek game (3-1 defeat against Illawarra Stingrays), so that may also be a factor. “Hannah Peric and Bryany Parker joined us from the Mariners in the off-season, I’m tipping both girls will have big games for us.” Williams also revealed Manly’s collective mantra for 2019 – turn promise into points. “We showed against Macarthur what we are capable of, but we still ended up with nothing,” he said. “Conceding at the death was tough, we also had a goal ruled out for off-side which should have been given. “We are going to have to overcome obstacles on the run all year, how well you do it is a measure of a good squad.” Kick-off is 3pm.
