Duo faces drug charges following traffic stop. A 25-year-old Bear Lake man and a 17-year-old Burton man were arrested early Monday, Jan. 6 by the Manistee County Sheriff’s Office and may face drug charges, according to Manistee County Sheriff Kenneth Faulk. The incident took place about 5 a.m. after a deputy pulled over a vehicle for having a burned out headlight. “During that traffic stop, deputies learned that the driver had just purchased narcotics from a subject who was in the parking lot of a local hotel,” Falk said. Deputies then contacted the State, Sheriffs, Chiefs Enforcement of Narcotics Team (SSCENT) to assist them at the hotel. “Deputies then contacted the two males sitting in the vehicle in the parking lot,” Falk said. “The subject sitting in the driver’s seat was identified as a 25-year-old Bear Lake male.” After the man’s name was run through the Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN) which came back with a valid warrant for probation violation. He was then arrested and lodged in the Manistee County Jail. “The passenger was asked his name which did not come back through LEIN as having a valid driver’s license, so deputies advised him he could not drive the…
