I’m clearly not the only blogger to think this, but Halloween is the best! My friends know me as the queen of Halloween and every year, without fail, my blog traffic more than doubles in October. I guess the internet knows that I like Halloween too, huh. It’s such an exciting time of year, with Halloween, Bonfire Night and then Christmas in the next three months. I like that it’s getting dark early, which makes it totally justifiable to spend my evenings cucooned under a blanket watching spooky films. It’s also the perfect excuse to spend time making sugary treats, trying out new crafting projects and dressing up like a witch – what’s not to like?! I have a couple of Halloween projects in the works that I’m pretty excited about, but first let’s dive in to the spooktacular delights of my Halloween archives to help you get ready for the best day of the year. Halloween Costume Ideas My favourite DIY costume to date is definitely the alien costume that I made last year (Part 1 / Part 2). Who knew that green PVC could be so spooky?! Coming in at a close second, I love the bat costume that I made from black fabric and chopsticks. Other costume tutorials that I’ve written over the years include instructions for a pumpkin, a carrot, a powerpuff girl and a lion. Halloween Decoration Ideas The DIY ghost family that I made a couple of years ago creates a big impact for relatively little effort, and who doesn’t want a gang of ghouls to greet them in the garden on their way home? My decorated pumpkin tutorial is pretty simple and it’s my go-to method of decorating the table at a Halloween party. I picked up my first pumpkin on my way home from work this week and painted him a face – much quicker than carving if you have a lot of pumpkins! I also love the simplicity of these cut out flying bats, and I use them to spookify my room every year.
