Finance Manager
Job Descriptoin: Provide financial advice and guidance to the Senior ManagementParticipate in strategic, financial planningResearch, prepare and submit the annual budgetPrepare detailed reports on financial mattersProvide professional and technical functions in order to ensure finances are managed according to legislation, policies and procedures and generally accepted accounting principlesManage accounting and financial systems and maintain full and accurate accounting recordsConduct financial analysis and prepare detailed financial reports and statementsProvide financial and accounting advice, direction and leadershipEnsure compliance with financial legislation, policies and procedures and adhere to the terms of contracts and service and lease agreementsRespond to auditors’ comments concerning finances and operations and oversee required action to address deficienciesApprove the Chart of Accounts and maintain commitment controlsImplement and monitor payment authority practicesEstablish and maintain cash controls over the collection, petty cash and cash paymentsMonitor department spending and recommend corrective actions as necessaryManage investments and reservesReconcile general ledger accountsEnsure proper safeguarding and maintain of fixed assets systems within the corporate office as well as the branches.Establish and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with financial legislation, policies and procedures.Evaluate the performance of, and provide training and development opportunities for, Finance staffManage the maintenance and upgrade of financial, procurements, payroll and human resources information systemsProvide leadership by delegating tasks, responding to staff inquiries and providing overall direction to section employeesExperience / Education / Qualifications:A university degree in Accountancy or Finance.A relevant professional qualification in accountancy, finance from one of the following: Chartered Association of Certified Accountants / Institute of Certified Public Accountants / Chartered Institute of Management Accountants At least 8 -10 years full-time experience in finance field gained within the last five years at a senior level in a multi-disciplinary organization with a record of success in financial management linking service delivery to strategic objectives.Practical Experience and Knowledge: in at least three of the following functional areas: · finance (budgeting, monitoring & reporting); The incumbent must have proficient knowledge in the following areas: generally accepted accounting principles / computerized accounting / accounts payable and accounts receivables /fund accounting / preparation of financial statements / preparation of financial reports /payroll systems and reportingThe incumbent must have proficient knowledge in : an understanding of relevant financial legislation, policies and proceduresThe incumbent must demonstrate the following skills: excellent leadership skills / excellent interpersonal skills / team building skills / well developed accounting skills /analytical and problem solving The incumbent must demonstrate the following skills : decision making skills / effective verbal and listening / communications skills / attention to detail and high level of accuracy / very effective organizational skills
