June 24, 1950, marked the beginning of the Korean Conflict, the Korean War. It was the first conflict fought under the auspices of the fledgling United Nations with General MacArthur in charge. Over 36,000 American died in Korea including 33,652 battle deaths and 3,262 "other deaths" in the war zone from illness, accidents, and other
