Sleek MakeUp: The Whimsical Wonderland Collection
Summer is just around the corner and Sleek are treating us to a gorgeous and super summery collection to mark the occasion! The Whimsical Wonderland Collection will hit stores on June 1st and with the exception of the lipsticks, the products are all limited edition. Double click to enlarge The collection is themed around the fun of the funfair – think candy floss, merry-go-rounds and summer fun. The shades are vary from soft but gorgeous, feminine pastels to more vivid and playful tones on the lips and cheeks. I am in love with some of the great names of the shades like Lickety Split, Hullabaloo and Fancy Pants! Here is a quick run through the items in the collection and my thoughts on them…. First up is the All The Fun of The Fair Palette – £7.99 for 12 shadows Double click to enlarge This eye shadow palette is a cute palette of 12 mineral based eye shadows in soft pastel shades. As usual with Sleek palettes, there are a combination of matte and shimmer shades and there is no doubt you can create some super feminine and fun looks with these beauties. Pigmentation is pretty decent on these, though I don’t find they blend as well as the very old shadows that Sleek became to be well known for. Having said that, they are not bad quality and for the price you are looking at good value for money. I am not aware of another palette with these types of shade combinations out there right now…..its playful and unique! Next up are the Sweet Cheeks Blush – £5.99 each Double click to enlarge These are cute little gel blush sticks that are water based and come in 3 shades. These are a first for Sleek and they are awesome!! I was wary of these to begin with, thinking that they would be heavy and greasy but I was pleasantly surprised and I think their nice, light texture is down the fact they are water based. They feel cool on the skin when applied, which I quite like and they are not that hard to blend, though I recommend fingers for this over a brush. In terms of pigmentation, they are light to medium but certainly buildable. I am really impressed with their wear! I wore one of these babies to work, then did an intense personal training session and came home and the blush was still going strong. That is pretty incredible since I have naturally fairly oily skin and I sweated a fair bit in my PT session. These blushes are an absolute winner and probably my favourite products from the collection and the fact you can dab them on and blend with your finger make them great for popping into your bag and travelling with. They remind me a lot of the Illamasqua Gel Blushers which were released last year, but for literally a fraction of the price! Snap at least one of these babies up….you will not be disappointed. Finally, the Lip VIP Lipsticks – £5.50 each Double click to enlarge Earlier this year I tried out the Sleek semi-matte lipsticks and I quite liked them – the lipsticks in this collection are in new shades and they are the only permanent products in this collection. The shades are intensely summery and would suit a variety of skintones. My personal favourite Hot Tottie, a bright pink – which I have been wearing a lot over the last week. Whilst these lipsticks have brilliant pigmentation and quite good staying power, they do tend to feather on me and that’s the only downside. Double click to enlarge To sum up, this is a very pretty and interesting collection from Sleek and in my opinion, the lipsticks are good and the gel blushes are awesome and well worth checking out! The palette might not be for everyone but I do think it’s a nice addition to any makeup addicts stash! I do like how the lipsticks match the blushes, so if you like to be uber co-ordinated with your makeup, that’s a nice touch 🙂 The collection will be available from June 1st in Boots, Superdrug and on www.sleekmakeup.com What are your thoughts on this collection?
