Iowa House Republican Introduces Medical Cannabis Oil Bill
DES MOINES, Iowa -- A House Republican is putting the wheels in motion for the legal sale and production of medical cannabis in the state. In 2014, Iowa lawmakers legalized the use of medical cannabis oil for people with chronic conditions of epilepsy. In 2015, Iowa Democrats in the Senate tried - and failed - to expand the access of medical cannabis oil for those with a list of other debilitating conditions, as well as allow the production and distribution of oil in the state. On Wednesday, House Rep. Peter Cownie (R-West Des Moines) proposed a bill that would bring cannabis oil production and sales to Iowa.
