Insiders May 26, 2019: Beto O’Rourke Learns Something from Iowa Day Care Owner, Eddie Mauro Says President’s Customer Service ‘Sucks’
DES MOINES, Iowa -- An Iowa day care owner warned presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke, a former Democratic U.S. Representative from Texas, that his idea to make child care more affordable could actually force her to close her business. And O'Rourke said the woman got his attention. Eddie Mauro is making his third run for public office, which he said is a reminder of failure. But he said that's not necessarily a bad thing since other politicians have managed to win after losing previous campaigns. Mauro said this campaign for the U.S. Senate can't be all about the economy but he wants changes with the minimum wage and taxes (although isn't offering specifics yet). Mauro also said as that as a business owner in the insurance industry, he thinks President Donald Trump's performance is indicative of someone who doesn't serve the public well. "His customer service sucks," Mauro said of the president.
