Man sentenced in 1985 rape, murder of suburban Illinois teen
GLEN ELLYN, Ill. -- The family of a suburban teen who was raped and murdered more than 30 years ago finally got justice. Last week, Michael Jones pleaded guilty to murdering Kristy Wesselman in 1985. She was just 15 at the time. On Tuesday, Jones was sentenced to 80 years in prison. In a victim impact statement today, Wesselman’s mother described the teenager as vibrant, spirited, gifted and amazing. Sandy Sesselman recalled the wonderful things about her daughter’s life before the judge sentenced her killer to 80 years in prison.
