March Hero of the Month: injured in Scud missile attack nearly 30 years ago, but undeterred
AURORA, Colo. -- Tony Drees was wounded in a Scud missile attack during the first Gulf War nearly 30 years ago. Last year, his injuries turned even more serious. But it wasn't much of a setback at all. Drees has had 74 surgeries in 27 years - most of them to save his leg. An Army veteran, he was in Saudi Arabia in 1991 when a Scud missile attack was launched on the US military barracks. The attack killed 27 US service members, and left him with a projectile in his leg.
