Truck catches fire on I-70 near Vail; westbound shut down for hours
VAIL, Colo. -- A truck fire shut down westbound Interstate 70 in the Vail area on Friday night. It happened around 9:30 p.m. near mile marker 181. The semitruck was carrying bales of used clothes. Investigators said the clothing inside the trailer ignited when the brakes overheated. Fire crews contained the fire in about 30 minutes, but it took several more hours to remove the cargo and extinguish the fire.
