Snapped by our 8 yo while making dinner yesterday. I'd just had a shower, washed my hair and pinned it up, it was still wet which makes it look short. My dress is ten euro from Lidl, imagine. You never know what you will find there. I look happy because I am. The sun has been shining hot for ten days straight, a minor miracle, deeply enlivening. The doors and windows were open and I was listening to the Allman Brothers, Midnight Rider, Whipping Post, I adore 70's music. I'm not making the title dish here, I'm making the full of that pot of chilli con carne to share with Colm and Lisa who've been working hard on the old farmhouse with a small baby. I'm making it with organic steak mince, plus onion, garlic, two courgettes (one chopped one grated) four stalks of celery, green pepper, punnet of tomatoes, three tins of tomatoes and lots of spices, cumin, turmeric, chilli, ground coriander, and fresh chopped coriander. Everyone may be tired but goddam it they won't be hungry.
