Extra security screenings because of birthplace - Tell History
Raving Barwari was late to high school on September 11th, 2001, and arrived to find his school on lockdown. He was asked to write an essay about the events as they unfolded, and one of his teachers, a native New Yorker, couldn't bring himself to teach as he followed the news. Raving explains that he realized the full impact when he travelled afterwards, where he would be subject to additional security screenings because he was born in the Middle East.
