Muskingum River Locks
A system of locks and dams make the Muskingum River passable to boats. The locks are manually operated and make for an interesting stop. This is the view below the locks. When a boat enters from the north, the gates close, and the water levels slowly drop, until the lower gates can be opened. Reversing the process allows north-bound boat traffic to pass.
