Fears and Phobias | Step Ahead Hypnotherapy
A phobia is an irrational and excessive fear of an object or situation. It's the result of an over-active survival response in the brain, which is trying to protect you from something it thinks may do you harm. The stomach churning, increased heart rate and sweating are designed to help you run away from a perceived danger. Once you've had that reaction a couple of times, your brain thinks it keeps you safe so you're encouraged to have the same reaction again. The great news is you can train your brain to react differently, and it's easy to do. I've used hypnotherapy to cure my own fear of spiders and I've seen amazing results in my clients too, people who've been unable to go to the dentist or have a blood test without experiencing a panic attack able to do both with ease. The best bit is, you don't have to face your fear as a part of the treatment. Someone with a dog phobia for example doesn't have to stroke a dog.
