Good Friday represents a radically beautiful paradox—that we are so sinful that we nailed Jesus to the cross, but we are so loved that God nailed Jesus to the cross. And so when we look at the cross, we are reminded of our our love for sin, and it takes away our pride. But also when we look at the cross, we are reminded of God’s love for us, and it takes away our shame.
