The Global Network of I ter et & Society Ce ters (NoC) i vited a wide ra ge of stakeholders toRio duri g November 8-10, 2017. Spearheaded a d orga ized by the Berkma Klei Ce ter for I ter et a d Society at Harvard U iversity a d the I stitute of Tech ology a d Society i Rio, the symposium brought together researchers, i dustry, NGOs, a d other e tities to discuss issues arou d i clusio a d artificial i tellige ce (AI). O e of the key aspects of this symposium was the i clusio of perspectives from ot o ly a wide ra ge of areas a d discipli es, but also from all regio s across the globe. Each regio was represe ted—however, more i clusio of u derreprese ted areas was oted as a area of actio for future activities, as the discourse still saw a larger umber of perspectives from Wester backgrou ds. As a example, although Chi a is o e of the key players regardi g AI, o ly a small umber of represe tatives were from Chi a or provided a backgrou d o AI a d i clusio i Chi a.
