The Life & Epic Journey of Joshua Slocum
Joshua Slocum was the first man to sail solo around the world. He was born in Nova Scotian and a naturalised American citizen. He was a sailor, adventurer, and a noted writer. In Fairhaven, Massachusetts, he rebuilt the 36′ 9″ gaff rigged sloop oyster boat named Spray. In 1900 he wrote a book about his journey Sailing Alone Around the World, which became an international best-seller. He disappeared at sea in November 1909 while aboard his boat, the Spray.
