Just Breathe: Mindfulness may help freshman stress less and smile more | Penn State University
Mindfulness -- assuming an accepting, nonjudgmental and kind attitude toward thoughts and feelings -- helped a group of University freshman adjust to the transition into college life. The students who participated in a mindfulness program were less depressed and anxious than the control group. There was also an overall drop in alcohol use among the students trained in mindfulness compared to the control group.
