Handcuffed Newton Man Killed Trying to Escape Trooper on I-80
JASPER COUNTY, Iowa -- A handcuffed Newton man died this weekend when he tried to run from state troopers on I-80. The incident happened Saturday just west of Newton in Jasper County. The incident report says a state trooper was taking an inventory of Matthew Lentzkow’s car after he was pulled over for operating while intoxicated at about 5 a.m. That’s when the Newton man ran off into traffic on the interstate while in handcuffs.
